In Which I Am Observant

Have you ever noticed that when you realize your friend has the day off from work, and you don't, that your shift will seem to last incredibly long, and the people you'll interact with will have the personality of lint picked from between your toes?

Have you ever noticed that the checkout lane with the fewest people in it always has to do a price check on an item at the opposite end of the store? And when paying for your items with cash, that you're going to be $0.27 short, with no spare change, and will have to use your debit card?

Have you ever pulled up to a busy gas station and got the only available pump, and then realize your gas tank is on the other side of the vehicle? And when you move to the correct side, you have to wait fifteen minutes for the next open pump?

Have you ever noticed that you always forget to pickup toilet paper, even after wandering the store trying to think of what else you were supposed to get?

Have you ever noticed how long it takes for the toilet to fill after someone flushes it while you are in the shower?

Have you ever noticed that when you are hungry, the strangest combinations of food sound appetizing? And then realize afterwards that hot dogs, apple sauce, and milk really don't mix well together?

No?

Well, I have. I have noticed all these things.

Has anyone else made random observations this week?

I've noticed that when you are cranky the slightest sounds are annoying. Like chewing. And the more you hear someone chew, the more you try to ignore it and the more you ignore it the louder it becomes and it seems like thunder in your head. And then you wonder why the rest of the world can't hear the giant rumbles in your head. And of course you know that YOU never chew like that. You are all class and gentileness...

Moonspun: Yes! I hate the sound of a sloppy chewer (chew-er?). I'm always aware of how loud I'm chewing. And I know for a fact that we are classic examples of class and gentilness.

Yes,I've noticed all of those things many times, unfortunately. I also am a freak about people chewing anywhere near me. It's my number one pet peeve, as a matter of fact.

I think that my gas tank moves from one side of my car to the other when I'm not looking. Yes, chewing...and a loud breather is just about as bad.

Lola: You must hate a gum-chewer, then.

Strictly Southern: I have that same problem with the gas gauge on my truck. I think it has something to do with the fact that I have a V8 and a lead foot.

Good observations. I also notice that whenever I try to drive in a fast lane, the next one over moves exponentially more faster.

Coffeshop Pop: Agreed. Much like the opening scene from "Office Space".

You know what I've observed? That I haven't lived in a house where a flushed toiled turned my shower cold in years. Is that reflection of the construction or what?
Whatev.
