In Which I Forget

Earlier this morning, as my alarm was going off at the ungodly hour of 5:30, I asked myself why in the hell I would want to get up two full hours before I had to log on for work. I violently hit the snooze button and went back to sleep.

A little bit later, when my alarm went off again at 5:45, I asked myself why I hadn't changed my alarm to a later time so I could just effing sleep. I reset the alarm for later in the morning, repositioned my pillow, and again, went back to sleep.

An hour later, I woke up in a panic.

What time is it? I thought to myself. I scrambled for the clock and focused my bleary eyes on the screen.

"Fuck. Fuck. FUCK!" I muttered under my breath. I launched myself out of bed and pulled on some clothes.

"Fuck. Shit. Shit! Fucking SHIT."

I had forgotten that I was asked to start work early this morning. Not just to work, but to be the on-duty supervisor. I was supposed to start at 6:00, instead of my normal start time of 7:30. Thus the alarms set for 5:30 and 5:45. And now I, the supposed supervisor-du-jour, was logging in forty-five minutes late.

Why is it that whenever you wake up late, you always wake up late to the point where you're not really, REALLY late just yet (say, by an hour or more), but still too late for it to be excused?

I'll be kissing some major ass to get out of this one.

Hey, these things happen.....working from home has its benefits, doesn't it?

I'd really like to put a positive spin on this one, but shoot, it is hard. I'm mean the asking for the position,& the supervisor thang. DAMN.

Yet every person knows these things have happened to all of us...doesn't really help the person who is going thru it at present though.............~Mary

I hate when that happens! Ah! The positive? You got to sleep a little later...?

Whoops! I've been there plenty of times. Hope you didn't get a spanking ;)

Feeling this!

They say that when you wake up late and you see the alarm clock, it is one of the times you are most likely to have a heart attack. Therefore I choose to roll over and have another ten minute sleep. What are they going to do you for being an hour and ten minutes late that they won't for being an hour late?

Fucking connection issues in your apartment building suck. You WERE up on time dammit. Your connection was broken somehow. You didnt know what was up.

And the benefit to working without pants is one I envy lol.

Oh SUCK. How'd it work out?

Aww, I hate when that happens too. I was thinking the same thing as Melissa though - connection issue excuse?

I tagged you by the way :) Check it out @

Oh yuck. That is JUST how it goes. I kept having nightmares that I was going to sleep through the NCLEX. Hope your day is getting better!

I'm totally diggin' the connection issue excuse. Who could possibly dispute that?

Did you at least enjoy the extra hour of sleep?

I'm digging the connection excuse too. It's not like you can say your truck didn't start.

Sigh. Pucker up, buttercup...

I always blame stuff like that on the kittens, now. Doesn't necessarily explain why I couldn't pick up a phone, but it's better than saying "I'm a lazy arse who couldn't get out of bed"...

aww man, that sux! I sometimes leave myself a note by the alarm when I have to wake up extra early. That way I know why the hell the alarm is going off at an ungodly hour. :)

Sandy: It sure does.

Frank and Mary: It ended up not being a big deal. I just hate being late, you know?

Love Lila: Exactly!

Lola: Nope! No spanking yet.

Myster G: Good point.

Melissa: Yes. How could I have mixed the two up?

Miss Grace: It worked out fine. I just worked a little bit later in the day to make up for it.

FTLOP: A tag? Sweet. I'll go check it out.

Jewels: I had the same fears about sleeping through my finals in college, too.

Mad Woman: The sleep was nice. =)

Employee No. 3699: Exactly.

Lilu: For that reason alone, I wish I had kittens I could put fault on.

Inna: Good idea!

Aunt Becky: Ugh. Yeah.

JennyMac: Charm always works. =)

Cape Cod Gal: I am but a novice.

This kind of situation is one where you need a killer excuse...if this happens again, tell them you were out clubbing and a 7 foot tall woman slipped you a thing you knew, your alarm was going off at 6:45am and you were waking up in a makeshift hammock which turned out to be her bra...your boss AND wife will be perplexed...

Ugg, those days suck. Especially since your whole day will be screwed up! Horrible!

Hope the rest of your week goes better!

Since we went down to only one alarm clock, I haven't had a single day like that! It's been wonderful!

Coincidentally, this morning I woke up and for a brief moment of panic I thought my son had camp this morning. He did not. But, we are so off schedule here I have no idea what day it is anymore.
