The other day when The Boss and I were picking something up at Wal*Mart, we saw this little fellow standing in line in front of us:

He stood no taller than four feet high.
I was puzzled and slightly curious about his t-shirt. Was he really a fireman, or was he just supporting his local station? Could he even be a fireman at his height? His short stature doesn't mean he is less capable than the next guy (and I've got nothing against the vertically challenged), but surely there is a minimum height requirement for such a physically intense profession.
I was curious, but not curious enough to ask him. I didn't want to be rude or offend him by asking, either. If he was a firefighter and I made him upset by commenting on his height, he'd probably kick my ass if it came to blows without breaking a sweat.
I'm still wondering about it, though.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

I wonder about the little people too.
McGee#1 wants midgets (the proper term is little people, but he wants midgets) to serve appetizers at our wedding on sombreros. I know, he's not politically correct AT ALL.
I've always wondered if little people get special toilets at home.
I love encountering people who are so vastly different. It lets my imagination (and yours too it seems) run rampant.
I have a vague distrust of midgets - whenever I meet one, I'm always suspicious that I may be entering a David Lynch fantasy (which never bodes well).
I believe regs have changed now so you do not have to be a certain height but you do have to be able to carry a certain amount of weight - although equally perhaps he works servicing the fleet of engines etc?
Seriously, not more than 4' tall? That's small. I'd scare the poor guy...all 6' of me.
I've given you an award:

Now I'm too curious! I demand you stake out that shop and ask him next time. Surely he's not?
Um...little people are people too. You bastard...
(just kidding.)
ahhhahahahaaa!
Hey, I'm wearing a Hooters T-shirt right now. Doesn't mean I work there. I just like owls and boobs!
Is it wrong that right after I finished reading this, I imagined the guy holding a firehose at a burning building and flying around like something straight out of a cartoon? Yeah...
You need to come by my blog. You won a lil sumfin sumfin!
He's obviously the mascot. Or he's around for a glorious game of midget tossing.
I love that you took a photo of the guy!
I couldn't believe you took a pic of the guy - I would have been too scared to do that. I was thinking that maybe he lived in a gated community of midgets and he did work as a fire man there where the buildings are only six feet high.
How did you get the stealth photo?
Badass indeed!
ur post!! LMAO!! omg!
You "didn't want to be rude" but covertly took a picture of him to post on the internet?
LMAO! Who am I kidding? I would have done the same thing.
Inna: That would be quite a sight.
Aunt Becky: Either that, or they get steps up to the toilet.
Critty: Indeed.
Myster G: I just try my hardest not to stare, but I'm sure they're used to it.
Sandy: I'm 6', too. I felt like a giant.
MWA: I doubt I'll see him again, but if I do, I'll ask.
Alntv: They sure are.
AK: =)
Lola: Hooters. Heh.
Love Lila: No... because I can imagine the same thing.
GeekByMarriage: Ooh!
Natalie: Midget tossing? Sounds like that would be interesting.
Bee and Rose: I have a duty to my fans to entertain. =)
Tony: Maybe! You never know...
Heather: Camera phone.
The Sleek Geek: Why, thank you.
Jennifer: I'm glad I'm not the only one. =)
Not sure on that one. But, spending as much time around firemen as I do...he's built like one. Maybe not height wise...but his build fits the bill. :-)
Actually, it is entirely possible as long as they can pass the tests. Although, it is also possible that he is a "helper/mascot/trainee". My dad was the Safety Officer for our fire department, and there are two guys there that aren't full firefighters but are there to help out with so much and whatnot.
it is very funny to see this image, it really makes me think about this man is very short, I wonder when I saw it
and get surprised about this stature that he got and how he got it.
