In Which I Make Plans

I've been writing in this blog for the past year and a half. I find it hard to believe that this blog is still going strong, and that I still have things to say after having written over three hundred posts. I've shared with you all everything I can think of to share (and perhaps sometimes I've shared too much), and it amazes me that I haven't scared everyone off yet.

Since I still manage to hold your attention after all this time, I figured that now would be just as good of a time as any to take things to the next level.

What is the next level, you ask?

I want to meet you.

You'll remember that I met up with a couple of Maine bloggers a few weeks ago. It was a blast getting to meet in person the people I had previously only talked to online, and I got to thinking that it would be fun to set up a large-scale meet up for bloggers in the New England area. (I can't take full credit for this idea, though, as Linda hosted a get-together for bloggers in the Chicago area recently. Seeing how much fun they had was what truly got the thought process rolling for me.)

So how about it, New England-area bloggers? Would any of you out there be interested in meeting The Boss and I? We want to meet you! We are making ourselves available to meet any and all of you on Sunday, September 27th.

This is an open invitation, so you don't have to live in the New England region to participate. If you're willing to travel up here to take part, the more the merrier! Of course, those who live in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut would probably be more likely to attend, but the important thing is that everyone is welcome.

If you're interested in taking part, just fill out the form below. I'll contact you with the specifics from there.

To ensure that I have enough time to find a mutually agreeable location for all of us to meet up, I request that you send me your information by September 25th. Once I know where all of you will be coming from, I'll try to find a place that would be centralized for everyone, to make the travel time as fair and equal as possible.

As an added perk (and a shameless way of me bribing you to attend), anyone who meets up with us on the 27th will get a little something special from The Boss and I.

So, how 'bout it, folks? Are you in?

What a BRAVE man :0. I have a few bloggers I want to meet(& one who is coming to visit next week), but for the most part, I'd rather not. You & the Boss I think I'd be comfortable with, so if you ever happen to be in Monmouth Cty, NJ, call ahead (or email ahead) & I will make you Peanut Butter Mashed Potatoes. ~Mary

Too exciting! Shame I live a gazillion miles away.

I did this a couple times like a million years ago with chat room friends. Remember chat rooms? On AOL? Do they still exist? Anyway it was okay, not lifelong connections, but okay. I'm game.

FrankandMary: peanut butter mashed potatoes? Seriously? peanut butter is my crack!

This sounds like it will be so much fun. Those of us who cannot be with you will be looking forward to hearing all about it later.

Petrop the Awesome said...

Oh no! I totally would have done that but I'll be in London by then.

Have a drink, or two, or three (hell, have the whole bottle!) for me!

Miss Outlier said...

Bummer, I'm already committed for that day - but let the record show I would have come from Boston!

Melissa said...

I would totally take the train from NJ to Boston. However my car insurance is also due this month. And me being a month to monther it wouldnt do.

If it goes well would you do late October or November? Isnt there a chowderfest or 2 in October?

Natalie said...

I use to live in RI. Crazy tiny state. However I am now in the Garden State.

Daddy Files said...

I would love to, but I have to work that Sunday. If we have it in the early evening though, MJ and I might be game. Or maybe just me, it depends on where this thing is held. I'd vote for Boston as a central location. I could probably drag Cape Cod Gal with me too.

If anyone else is open to a change of date I'd like to move it to a Sunday in October!

lovelila said...

Very cool! I live in the deep south, though. I so wanna participate in a meetup someday!

Jaime said...

I might be in. Will there be food? lol

I'd love to, but I can't that weekend. :( If you do change the date to something in October, let me know!

Nej said...

If I lived in the area, I would totally be there!! :-)

Your form isn't working for me. This is soo crazy that you are setting this up for that day and time that I have been in shock all day. I haven't been back to Boston since 2000. What are the odds?

Rebecca Knight said...

It's crazy hearing where everyone hails from :). I'm a northwestern person, so sadly, I will miss all the fun. Please tell us about your shenanigans after the fact! :D

If you ever come to the Gulf Coast, I definitely want to meet you.

In a sense, Australia is 'New England'. After all, for a while a couple of hundred years ago we were just one of their free range prisons....

I'm guessing that it doesn't count though. *sigh*

Oh, man, another road trip might just kill me, especially this month, as I'm headed up north again next Thurs. I'm in if it's not too long of a road trip for me. It's been the summer of roadtripping for us. I could probably get CCG along for the ride, though ;)

Aw, crap... I can do Minneapolis from Winnipeg, but New England would be a stretch.

Who am I kidding... New England would be impossible.

But I so wish I lived closer; would love to meet ya IRL!

SUCH a fun idea. Wish we lived closer!

I would love to meet you guys, but I can't make the date :( Maybe next time? The travel wouldn't be such a stretch for me. I just need to work on the other details. I hope that you have a lot of fun though!

I'm willing to travel from Seattle, but I'll need a bigger gift than everybody else. Like a plane ticket.

Well, I'd love to. But. Yeah.

Have fun!

I'll have you over if you come to Wisconsin! We have cows.

doobylove said...

Ugh. If I only lived in NY still. But I don't. Hows'about you and Boss come down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year? Eh?

Probably not.

And that is why I'll be alone on Bourbon street.

rebecca said...

What a great idea. Hope you a have a good turnout.

That sounds like fun! I have way to many counts against me though... I live in Missouri for starters, and I will have a baby thats only a few weeks old, and yeah I guess thats enough for now... boo.

Yay for you for doing this! It's really quite something to meet up with people you've met through blogging. Age, gender , etc. doesn't matter, because everyone has blogging in common.

I wish I could come but alas you're too far away, and I'm also planning a surprise 30th birthday party for my son that weekend.

I hope you get a good turn out...and enjoy!

...and take pictures you'll share with the rest of us that can't make it.

looking forward to hearing the outcome.
mmm, wonder if there are any cool bloggers in hong kong...

The Peach Tart: I'll keep you in mind if I ever travel that far south.

Frank and Mary: Sounds like a plan!

Mwa: A gazillion miles is a long way to travel.

Sandy: Chat rooms are mostly full of bots these days.

MIT Mommy: Possibly. I'll have to check to see where a central location would be.

Dsmcaron: Iowa is a bit far, yeah.

Jenn(ifer): Rock on!

Technobabe: Of course.

Petrop: Drinks will be had, I'm sure.

Miss Outlier: That's too bad.

Melissa: There may be another outing in the works for October... We'll have to wait and see.

Natalie: Ah.

Daddy Files: October may work as a Round Two of sorts.

Love Lila: Someday!

Jaime: Depends upon where we'd meet up. Most likely, yes.

Mumma Boo: Will do!

Nej: Damn geography!

MIT Mommy: Pretty incredible, eh?

Rebecca Knight: I will be sure to.

Beautiful Wreck: I'll keep that in mind!

Frogdancer: That'd be quite a trip.

Lola: I know you've been busy this summer. I'll see what I can do.

Maureen: New England is quite far for most people.

JennyMac: I wish you did, too!

FTLOP: I'll try to give more notice next time.

Sn0tty: The only ticket I could afford to get you would only get you as far as the tarmac.

Mad Woman: Uh.. yeah.

Heather: Cows are cool.

Doobylove: Don't know if that'll happen anytime soon, but maybe in the future.

Rebecca: Thanks!

Laura: Yeah, you'll have your hands full.

Employee No 3699: There will be pictures.

WOS: You never know!
