First order of business: I've got a guest post going up at Moonspun's place today, where I talk about the things I both love and loathe about Thanksgiving. Considering my plans for Thanksgiving this year, which includes lots of extended family crammed into my uncle's extremely small house, with two large, excitable dogs and two screaming babies, this post should ring pretty true. I hope you'll go over to Moonspun's place and check it out.

Also, I don't think I've mentioned it here specifically, but I'm participating in NaNoWriMo this year. If you're unfamiliar with this, it's similar to NaBloPoMo (where you post every day for 30 days), but instead of posting every day, the goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in just thirty days. That works out to be about 1,667 words a day, which is easily attainable if you make yourself set aside the time to do it. I've been keeping just ahead of the word count for pretty much the entire month thus far, and I've got just over 11,000 words left to go.
When I first started, I wasn't sure I'd be able to keep up with it. Like everyone else that I've known who is doing this, once you get past a certain point, the words just keep coming. A good portion of what I've written so far practically wrote itself, my fingers barely moving fast enough to type them out. I don't think the novel will be complete at just 50,000 words, but that's not ultimately the point. The premise behind it is to get your mind in the habit of just writing for the sake of getting the words down on paper, and worrying about all the editing once the first draft of the story is complete. NaNoWriMo has been a great tool for me as a writer, more beneficial to me than anything else I've tried in the past.

You really are the King of Guest Posting. And I love it.
Congrats on your NaNoWriMo goals. Wishing you big success!
Your synopsis has be intrigued. I'd definitely read it!!!
Your synopsis sounds great!
I, too, have been a writing fiend. Your word count is always ahead of mine, I just want to beat you!
I think participating in NaNoWriMo makes you PARTICULARLY badass. I am barely managing with NaBloPoMo, which is a lot....less.
Congrats on almost meeting your goal in NaNoWriMo!
Good for you with the NaNoWriMo. I was going to try this year but alas did not! So I'm rooting for everyone that's trying!! Go for it!
The synopsis sounds great...I'd LOVE to read the finished product! And good for you for even attempting it. Maybe it's what I needed to do instead of my failed attempt at NahBloMe
That sounds like a great novel! I'd definitely like to read the finished product. Congrats on meeting your goals!!
Here lately I can hardly force myself to update my Facebook status, so major kudos to you!
SO cool and good for you! I can't wait to see it all.
Nothing makes you a better writer than actual writing. Except editing. But you have to write first, which you have done, then you edit. 50,000 words is quite an accomplishment. Well done.
To All: Thank you all for your encouragement! I'm not sure it I'll be sharing the full story when it's done, but I'll definitely be sharing an excerpt of it.
Whenever I get it finished, that is.
Kudos to you!
Going to Moonspun's place now...
I totally missed it. I didn't even know it was happening. It was so disappointing. Friggn hate censorship.
NaNoWriMo is totally badass. I always say I will do it, and then life sticks its ass in the way.
Good for you! I'm participating in the write as few words as possible category ;)
It really is a great experience! I'll ABSOLUTELY do it again next year!
way to go!!
First, I love those acronyms. Second, I'm impressed it's working. That's a substantial feat you're accomplishing. Third, I want to try it but am tired just thinking about it.
OH I love to read things you write! and thanks for the guest post. It was classic BAG, which means it was great!
