In Which I'm Givin' The Dog A Bone

I was listening to a classic rock playlist on my iPod the other day when AC/DC came on. The particular song was the title track to their "Back In Black" album and, this being one of my favorite classic rock songs, I promptly turned the volume up. A few songs later, another track from the album came on, and something in my mind clicked.

I highly doubt that I'm the first person to have thought of this, but have you ever noticed, excluding the lyrics completely, how a majority of the song titles on this particular album can be used as innuendos?

"Shoot To Thrill" and "Givin' The Dog A Bone" are just two possibilities. Some others are "Shake A Leg" and "Have A Drink On Me". Of course, there is "Let Me Put My Love Into You", but that's not very subtle at all.

This is coming from the guy who saw the Twitter trending topic "#whoremembers" on Sunday night and immediately saw "Whore Members", instead of the intended "Who Remembers". A few other people agreed with me, which made me feel less bad for having my mind so firmly planted in the gutter. I guess when you're down there, it helps to have company.

Have a good weekend!

That's exactly why AC/DC is so wonderful! And, I also read "Whore Members" -- maybe you should start a # that IS whore members? Apparently people are waiting for that.

Kate Weber said...

LOL, I read whore members as well! I clicked on it and laughed pretty hard when I realized my mistake! "What in the world is a whore member?" Great post!

Samiya said...

I also rad whore members, but the fact that my mind is always in the gutter is not exactly news to me ;)

Lesli Richardson said...

I saw whore members too. LOL!

ZZ Top is another one with suggestive titles (not counting the lyrics *LOL*).

Amelia said...

I saw whore members as well. First when I saw it on Twitter and again reading it when I should have known better.

And who could forget AC/DC's classic "Big Balls"? Talk about thinly veiled. I always had fun just looking with raised eyebrow at people who said something which might be interpreted more than one way and saying nothing. INvariably, they look at me and say "get your mind out of the gutter" when I hadn't said a word thus proving they were right there in the gutter with me.

Feral Female said...

Ahhh I knew there was a reason I felt such a kinship with you Geek, aside from your wit and humor of course. AC/DC rocks my old classic world as well! And we`re glad to have you join us in the gutter....I read whore members as well. *Snort*

Moonspun said...

I totally saw that as whore members, too! It's amusing to see the dirty things in life, makes it more interesting...

Mwa said...

More company here! I'm sure most people would read it that way.

I'm not proud to admit this, but thought whore members too. Who remembers does sound much better, but not as much fun.

-->I read it as Whore Members on twitter and again just now.
Back to AC/DC, my son's initials are T.N.T., on purpose. He is three and sings it too..."Cause I'm TNT, Dy-no-mite..."

Lauren said...

I think you probably are the last person on the planet to figure that out about AC/DC.

And I read that as Whore Members too. lulz

I'm rolling. Let me put my love into you! I'll be chuckling through the rest of my day over that one line.
I don't think there is anyone who can read that as Who remembers. If they say they do then they are a liar who is afraid to dive into the depths of the gutter. I'm there. Still laughing.

I read whore members as well. You are among friends in the gutter.

Big balls. That's all I have to say.

Or you just might have been a mood or particular mind set my friend. That doesn't mean you are in the gutter to stay. You can climb back out.

Innie said...

I'm ashamed to say I actually *also* read "whore members" lol...sad sad truth...

N-i-c-o-l-e said...

Yeah I read that as whore members too. I guess I'm right down there with you lol.

Melissa said...

Totally saw whore members. My mind is right down there with yours.

And FYI - I ordered a pepperoni roll for lunch today because of you. I have been resisting for a couple of days, but ever since that gaga song the battle has been futile.

Amy said...

My mind is always in the gutter...and when you're a girl, I think it's a bit more inappropriate to have your mind there than if you're a guy.

I would hear those song titles, nudge my girl friends, and then get death stares about how vulgar I can be.

Thanks for making me feel...uh..."normal" badass!

ForeverRhonda said...

I thought it was whore remembers too....I actually feel dumb only NOW because you pointed out to me that it wasn't! Sheesh! I know!! RIGHT!

Stevi said...

That is one of my all time favorite albums as well. And yes I did notice all the innuendos. Why do you think I like it so much? kidding.

Also the first thing I saw in that twitter group was whore as well. hmmm...

carissajaded said...

Don't you mean Inn-ur-end-os?
Great observation though. I would have never noticed the song titles... But I also saw Whoremembers as you did. We are sickos.

Charm City Barfly said...

Totally saw Whore Members and was sorely disappointed when it was not what I thought it was.

Chuck said...

Everybody who is not blind saw it as whore members, but then the blind wouldn't be reading your blog so there you have it! Years ago I named my bowling team Balls To The Wall in honor of AC/DC, that crackling sound in the middle of that song just made it perfect! Well, off to start the Twitter trending topic....#whoremember!

Rebecca Knight said...

AHAHAHAHA. And this is why we love AC/DC :). I always chuckle at the innuendo, too.

In TNT, there's a line that goes something like "Pack up your daughter, pack up your wife, lock up your backdoor, and run for your life!" and I nearly snicker myself to death every time I hear it.

Brian Miller said...

yep, my eye ended at whore as well...sheesh...

Caron said...

Even after you wrote who remembers, I had to look again and still didn't see it!

cacophony said...

I saw Whore Remembers too :D I love watching old Disney movies and looking for innuendo!

Alex said...

~mind firmly in the gutter~, I saw 'whore members' too. I'm currently listening to 'Ride on, Shooting Star' by the Pillows. Put the gutter to it!

boredom said...

AC/DC rocks!!! lol - I love them. You're right about the song titles though. Just wait until you hear the older song 'Big Balls' - subtle I know.

Kat: It's nice down there.

Ajm: Apparently so.

Kate Weber: I'm sure there are many sites out there that talk (or show) whore members.

Samiya: Me, either. =)

Lesli Richardson: Yes! Another good example.

Amelia: Yeah.

K. Erickson: The gutter isn't so bad.

Feral Female: There are lots of us down in the gutter.

Moonspun: It really does.

Mwa: It's beginning to look that way.

Little Ms Blogger: Exactly.

WebSavvyMom: I LOVE that song.

Lauren: Oh, I don't know about that.

Mil-lee-cents: Me, too.

Natalie: Yay!

Logical Libby: Amen.

Jet: Yeah, you've said that.

Taschima Cullen: Lots of us did, apparently.

TechnoBabe: If I want to, yeah.

Innie: It's alright. You're not alone.

N-i-c-o-l-e: Glad to have you here with the rest of us.

Melissa: NICE.

Amy: Possibly, yes. You're welcome!

ForeverRhonda: It's all good.

Stevi: AC/DC is great like that.

CarissaJaded: Indeed we are.

Charm City Barfly: I was, too, sort of.

Chuck: That is AWESOME.

Rebecca Knight: Me, too. =)

Brian Miller: You are not alone, Sir.

Caron: Amazing, isn't it?

Cacophony: That is fun, too!

Alex: Amen.

Boredom: Oh, I've heard it. Not so very subtle at all.

Dude...EVERY AC/DC song is chock FULL of innuendo. If it ain't about drinking, it's about sex. And that is why they are one of my favorite bands...

Jen W said...

Uh, yeah... I thought the same thing!!!

Just because I got up with my ass on too tight this morning. "Back In Black" would be the title track for the album "Back In Black" and for Chuck: "Balls To The Wall" was Accept, not AC/DC. Hell's Balls would have been a good name.

Now I'm better. Great blog, by the way! This kind of replaces Maddox for me since he disappeared up his own tail pipe. And since you mentioned AC/DC now I have to go listen to some.

Badass Geek said...

Alntv: This I know.

Jen W: Kind of hard not to, right?

Olive Tree Guitar Ensemble: Thank you.

Jon: I believe I did say that "Back In Black" was the title track of the album. Thanks, though.

Nathan Porrata said...

Well yeah, almost all of ACDC's stuff is a giant innuendo. Its no secret, all their songs are pretty much like that if you listen to them closely. Those guys are dirty without being dirty

Jon said...

You know, you are correct. I assumed the title of the post was the song you were listening to but having re-read it I see it now. And we all know what happens when people assume.

BeautifulWreck said...

My mind was firmly in the gutter.

Robin. said...

That was exactly what I thought it said too, but I was afraid that it was just my sick little 15-year old mind. But I'm glad other people thought the same.

Dr Brainspiller said...

Whore Members would be quite a fitting title for some Twitter users. The kind that post a Billion times a day...

Eating Rice Krispies

Brushing my teeth

On my way to work

Just took a shit...

Blah blah blah.

strongerwoman said...

Don't worry, I also saw it as whore members, haha.

Brutalism said...

It's totally whore members.

Phoenix said...

Um, if there isn't an actual group named Whore Members, there should be!

And I just knew "Shook Me All Night Long" was about sex! I KNEW it!! ;)

Nej said...

#1 - I totally say Whore Members as well. You are not alone. I had to read more to see what it meant. Who Remembers...hmmmmm.....yeah, I think I like whore members better. It's got a ring to it. :-)

#2 - If I tell you that I can't stand AC/DC, can we still be friends? If the answer is no, then forget I said anything. :-)

notthatkindofgirlblog said...

Dude, is it wrong that not only did I see "whore members" but when I worked out it was supposed to be something else (but before I read that the real phrase was "who remembers"), I stared at the tag for about three minutes and still couldn't see any phrase that didn't involve prostitution.
